Wow, it is the third day of spring and we woke up to snow this morning here in Portland, OR! It has been a while since last post but I am ecstatic to announce the newest member to the Something Green family..... little Asher. He is now over four months old and just adorable :)
You may not know, but here at Something Green, we organically grow ALL of our own herbs used in our product line! This is just a little part of our effort toward sustainability and providing you with the best ingredients possible.
Lets get started sowing some seeds! Here is how we get the process started....
Things You Will Need: news paper (don't throw these away... reuse them for your seed starts and then recycle the rest), scissors, something to roll the newspaper with (I found a pvc fitting in the garage that worked well with the tray I had), soil of your choice, seeds and a tray.
Start by cutting your newspaper into strips, size based on your preference, and then rolling a tube around your "roller" (pvc here). Once you have a tube, tuck one side in and flatten. That is what the mini flash light was used for. Next make a lip at the top portion by folding it over 1/4 inch or so. This will help keep your new pot intact when watering. Fill your new eco-friendly pots and sow your seeds following the recommendations on the packets. Place in your tray and you are ready to go!
I hope you enjoyed this. Come back again for more of Something Green's eco-friendly practices and helpful hints.
Special thanks to Asher and Gweany for their supervision on this project ;)
